Chiropractor Tulsa – Steps in a Typical First Visit
Tim Redmond:
This is Tim Redmond and I’m with the chiropractor Tulsa loves Dr Breck. And we want to have a little interaction today, Dr. Breck about what is, what all happens with your typical patient visit. Can you give us a step by step process of an initial patient visit?
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
Sure. At chiropractic Tulsa, we uh, we’ll have a patient that initially come in as a new patient to chiropractor Tulsa and uh, don’t have to fill out some paperwork. We will then go through a consultation with them. We’ll do an examination, we’ll shoot any necessary x-rays and then we’ll get them on some therapy to kind of relax them to loosen up the muscles. And uh, from there we’ll go into the office, go over the x-rays that we had just shot previously and uh, answer any questions. They may have kind of outline what it is that’s going on, what needs to happen, and we’ll actually give them their first adjustment on that first day.
Tim Redmond:
Well that sounds great. Okay, so you have this, you went over a whole bunch of steps there. So I’m going to break that down. Now. First of all, you actually invite people to come in on some kind of a special, some kind of a, an adjustment or two adjustments or tell us about your special just to get people in the door.
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
Well, as the chiropractor Tulsa loves, we want to make that initial hurdle for people to come in and see us very low to overcome. We want to make it easy, affordable, um, readily accessible. And so, uh, we offer a number of promotions throughout the year. Uh, different promotions for different months, different, uh, offerings and coupons, ways that people can come in and it won’t cost them so much. Oftentimes the very first visit is the most costly, uh, because we have the examination, we have the x-rays, we have, uh, a lot that goes into that first visit. It can be cost prohibited for a number of people. And so we really try at chiropractor Tulsa to bring that cost down and help the patients get the care that they really need.
Tim Redmond:
So do you still have some kind of a thing that was either a group on offer or some kind of thing where you get two adjustments and a massage for a certain price or what? What was that?
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
I have a coupon on Groupon for chiropractor Tulsa and it allows a person to come in and get that consultation, the exam, the necessary x-rays to chiropractic treatments as well as a massage all for $35 35 bucks. Wow. So have some other promotions that we do as well. Some don’t have quite as much, uh, piled into them. Um, but people can go to our website and click on a button [email protected]. And uh, if they click that button, they will, uh, have a coupon that allows them a free consultation and that first adjustment at no cost, no obligation.
Tim Redmond:
Wow. Okay. Well, as a matter of fact, that’s what got me in the first time in the U to see you. Uh, you’re recommended by my son Matthew. And I go, wow, this guy is, man, he must be silly. That’s just, that’s just crazy stupid. I’m going to come in here, I’m just going to take advantage of that. And a free 99 is a hard price to be free. 99. So, uh, the soccer turned out to be me because a one, I love the way you, uh, do the adjustments, how effective you are and your prices are very reasonable. And so I’m drinking the Koolaid here. Um, okay. So when they come in they register and then, uh,
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
you have to call ahead to make an appointment. We do need to know that you’re coming, uh, as the chiropractor Tulsa recommends most. We have a number of people that get recommended to us and so, uh, we do have to, to afford the proper amount of time for each patient.
Tim Redmond:
Okay. So we get all that lined up. We come in the door and we register. And then is there some kind of a questionnaire you fill out or some kind of a therapy you start or
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
so yeah, to really break it down. Initially there is some paperwork that you’ll need to fill out there, uh, at chiropractor Tulsa and that paperwork, we’ll start with a patient history. We need to know what has gone on with you to bring you to this point, whether you’ve had a car accident or an old sports injury, uh, or maybe you just sit at your desk too long and, and uh, you know, you’re, you’re tense and tight and stressed out. Um, and so those are relevant information that we need to know. And then from there, once we’ve gained that, that information from you, we, we’ve, uh, gotten just the normal things, uh, where you live, your address, your, your phone number and the pertinent information. Uh, we’ll go on to a consultation to kind of break it down with you to see what’s really bothering you most, how we might be effective to help you, uh, what areas we may not be.
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
And that way we can refer you to the proper channels there as well. Um, but we’ll quickly move into an examination. We’re actually getting my hands on. Uh, we’ll do orthopedic, neurologic and chiropractic test to see exactly what’s happening. And then the process proceeds into the, uh, x-rays. And so if it’s your neck that’s bothering me most, we’re going to shoot x-rays of your neck. And, uh, you know, a lot of people come to chiropractic, Tulsa for back pain and headaches. And so it really depends on what area of the body is bothering you as to where we’re gonna shoot those x-rays, but will get those x-rays taken. And, uh, from there we have a therapy area that you’ll go on to where there’s what’s called intersegmental traction tables. Patients know them as
Tim Redmond:
let’s say that five times real fast [inaudible] traction table intersegmental traction table. I can’t say it that I have to slow it down. We call them IST
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
the patients, call them roller beds. Uh, but we’ll utilize that with electrical muscle stimulation, also known as East STEM at chiropractor Tulsa. And, uh, so those in combination really help a patient to relax, uh, help the patient to, you know, the muscles to calm down and, and ease the tension. And the electrical STEM actually stimulates a third therapeutic wave inside the body that helps to produce endorphins and enkephalins and, uh, really relax the body on a whole second level.
Tim Redmond:
That’s excellent. So yeah, I remember. Okay, so you go in there, you get registered, you go through the exams, maybe x-rays, then they get you on this roller bed, which I love. And then they, they shock you in. I have them turn up the shocker just as high as I can turn it up there. Uh, just, uh, my nerves are probably a little bit slow and uh, and they does get me relaxed. And so, uh, that’s on a timer and brother does get you a, your whole back though is from the neck all the way down to the pelvic and it does relax you,
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
I think of that roller bed kind of like a, uh, you know, you being the dough and a roller pin kind of going over you. And so while you’re lying on your back, this wheel inside of that, that tabled box, it actually rolls up your spine and follows the normal proper track of the spine to help align you. So the process has already started at that point.
Tim Redmond:
That’s good. Then it does relax me. You guys set a timer on a, I’m always bummed when the timer goes off cause I’m really getting into it and want that to last for about four days. But then then I get done with the roller therapy and what happens after that.
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
So at that point we’re going to go, we’re going to come back into the office, we’re going to actually, uh, I’m going to break down the X Ray for you. Put some line drawings on it so that I can better explain what you’re seeing on the x-ray. Cause most people have no idea. And I’m not trying to create many chiropractors out of every patient, but I want them to understand what we’re doing and why we’re doing it. Because if I can’t explain it, then I shouldn’t be doing it.
Tim Redmond:
This is why you’re the chiropractor Tulsa loves best. I know it, I’ve experienced it. Okay. So I get done with the therapy. I come in there and then you start what? Tell me about, so once
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
kind of broken that down and explained exactly what needs to happen, what the, the detriments to your spine are, what, what’s broken down and what’s happened in the past. Uh, and how we kind of got to this point today, we really start to shift our focus and move forward from there. At carburetor Tulsa, we don’t want to stay looking in the rear view mirror. We want to start looking forward as to what can we do from this point on meet you where you’re at and go forward into better health moving on into tomorrow. And so we’re going to get right into the actual therapy. We’re going to, we’re going to start the adjustment that first day because the sooner we get started, the sooner you’re going to feel better.
Tim Redmond:
All right. And so when you have people first come in, do they you get them set up to come in once a month or once a week or what’s the frequency when you first start seeing a patient? They do have a problem. Like I had a horrible back problem, right?
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
So that’s really going to depend on each patient. So that part is very individualized. Um, you know, you could look at statistics and probably find an average, but uh, for some people it may be once a month is kind of the minimum that I would say is really going to be necessary. If there’s really anything going on, um, that’s causing you problems, that’s affecting your day to day life, we’re going to be seeing you more frequently than that. As the top chiropractor Tulsa, the most frequent that I will see a patient, uh, really would be about three times a week. Uh, and that’s usually pretty short live. We try to do everything that we can. Uh, I liken it to, to having braces put on. So initially those braces are doing a lot of work. It’s kind of intense on the front end, but the sooner we get that intense part of it out of the way, then we get to switch over to the retainer and then it’s just maintaining the hard work that we did on the earlier.
Tim Redmond:
Okay. And so there’s like two phases as I remember. There’s the healing phase that you may be coming in two or three times a week and then there’s the maintenance phase. You’d come in maybe once or twice a month.
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
So I break it down in a couple of extra phases there. But yeah, you’re, you’re essentially on the right point there. So we have the corrective phase where we’re trying to get things that are out of alignment, corrected into a proper alignment. Then we’re actually working on stability as kind of an intermediary phase as, as kind of moving from the corrective into the maintenance space as you said, where we’re really just maintaining, uh, what hard work we did on the, the corrective phase. So, you know, you could really look at like an old car, say a a 57 Chevy Corvette. Now you know, you can have one that’s a rust bucket at this stage or you could have one that looks cherry. The only difference is one was maintained throughout its life span and the other not
Tim Redmond:
very good. Okay. So people want to check you out. Uh, where did they go on the internet and what number do they call dr brat? Yeah. So
Dr Breck Kasbaum:
